Road Closures – Kidney 10k Sunday 3rd Sept

If you are in or around Cardiff on Sunday you may want to avoid certain areas at certain times as discussed below.

The Kidney 10K event organised by Kidney Wales is returning to Cardiff this Sunday, 3rd September. The two kilometre family run will start at 9.15am with the 10 kilometre run starting at 10am.

The event is sold out with 8,000 runners taking part this year. This year, the route is also new and will continue to take place on closed roads.

The following roads will be closed on race day and the anticipated timings are given below, so please plan ahead for your Sunday journeys in and around the city:

Between 5am and 2pm:

Museum Avenue
Gorsedd Gardens
City Hall Road
College Road
King Edward V11 Avenue.

Between 8.30am and 1pm:

Corbett Road (access will be maintained for residents in Queen Anne Square via North Road)
Park Place from the junction with Cathays Terrace to the junction with St Andrews Place.

Between 9.30am until 12.30pm:

Cathays Terrace, Fairoak Road & Ninian Road
Penylan Road from the junction with Ninian Road to the junction with Kimberley Road)
Ty-Draw Road & Alder Road
Lake Road East from the junction with Ty-Draw Road to the junction with Cefn-Coed Road
Lake Road West from the junction with Highfield Road to the junction with Ninian Road.

Due to the road closures above, from 8.30am until 1.30pm the following roads will be closed but access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

Whitchurch Rd from the junction with Allensbank Rd to the junction with Cathays Terrace
Wedal Rd & Penylan Road from the junction with Melrose Avenue to the junction with Ty-Draw Road
Wellfield Road, Marlborough Road from the junction with Blenheim Road to the junction with Penylan Road
Sandringham Road from the junction with Blenheim Road to the junction with Penylan Road
Westville Road from the junction with Blenheim Road to the junction with Penylan Road
Kimberley Road from the junction with Blenheim Road to the junction with Penylan Road
Lady Mary Road from the junction with Maryport Road to the junction with Lake Road East
Crwys Road from the junction with Albany Road to the junction with Cathays Terrace
Catherine Street from the junction with Woodville Road to the junction with Cathays Terrace
Maindy Road from the junction with Minister Street to the junction with Cathays Terrace.

PLEASE NOTE : To set up for the event, on Saturday September 2nd King Edward V11 Avenue will be closed between College Road and City Hall Road. Staff will be in attendance to allow the public to park in the Civic Centre but no overnight parking will be allowed

Also, Wedal Road Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will be closed all day on Sunday, but Lamby Way and Bessemer Close HWRC will remain open.
